Before I accepted
the position of
Worthy Matron on
October 8th, 2010, I
had searched my
heart and prayed to
God for the answer
of whether I held
the qualifications I
considered to be
essential to be the
leader for the
position of Worthy
Matron of this
Eastern Star.
To assume this
position my belief
is that you must
have faith in God
and an inner soul of
love, peace,
kindness,
forgiveness and
humbleness toward
each person you
meet. I also believe
you have to be
committed to making
decisions based on
what you believe is
right.
Being Worthy Matron
to me means to
encourage other
members in our
chapter by planning
and encouraging
participation. It
means being creative
and sacrificing time
when you think you
have no time. It
means recognizing
that each person in
our chapter has a
talent; whether it
is small or large
doesn’t matter.
It means at times
hesitating and
listening to see
what the other
member may have to
say before forming
an opinion. I have
found through life
that some of the
best ideas have come
from these
hesitations; but,
then too, it means
participating and
expressing what you
feel is important
also.
At this writing, I
have served for 3
chapter meetings. It
has been
challenging. I have
to say, getting your
thoughts together
and the rapping of
the gavel in
sequence at the
right time, have
come harder for me
than playing the
piano with a beat;
but isn’t that what
life is all about?
As you practice the
correct way, things
become easier. I am
certain, our chapter
is much happier now
that I don’t have
them getting up and
down, up and down,
up and down so many
times incorrectly.
May God bless all
the Worthy Matrons
this year and thanks
to God for those
wonderful Worthy
Matrons that have
gone before us!
Wouldn’t it be
wonderful if we just
had a book of all
the wonderful
experiences that
have come along the
way? |
